Portsmouth, 21/04/2017

As planned we left St Lucia with 2 new rope bags, unfortunately a bit smaller than I wanted. No problem though, we now have them on one side stacked above each other. We have put the less used halyards in the lower one and the main sheet in the upper. I will replace the other whenever I can, but no rush.
At present we are in Dominica, Portsmaouth to be exact. We left Martinique in the early afternoon and arrived at Roseau at dusk, so we anchored for the night. At dawn we upped anchor and motored to Portsmouth, due to lack of wind. Just as we arrived we met Katerina leaving so had a quick chat on the radio and headed on in. This time I took a mooring ball for security from Laurence of Arabia! His name is really Megs but that is his trade name here.
This afternoon we all took a boat trip with him up the Indian River. Very pleasant and restful. Only the first mile is navigable and that is done by rowing as there is an engine ban to preserve the river and its occupants.
At the upper end we climbed out of the and into a bar! This is in the middle of nowhere. As we chatted to the owner, it turns out that her mother was from Dominica, her father from Jamaica and she emigrated back from New York! She was an EKG nurse. You never know who you'll meet. She was born and lived in East London, England.
Anyway, all is well on board the good ship BlueFlyer.

Hi Hugh. Enjoying hearing about your trip and what everyone is doing. I'm currently visiting my niece in Auckland. What a beautiful sailing place it is. Giving me itchy feet⛵. Looking forward to your next update.
