The Broadwaters, 3/7/2016

Just for  change, no whales and no dolphins.

This morning we set off for Morton Bay through the inland channels, clearly shown on our latest edition of the Queensland guide called B to B.
We covered the first 11 miles with no problems, other than the manic motorboaters and jet skiers. Then we got stuck in the mud and sand. However having taken the precaution of doing this trip on a rising tide we thought we'd escape soon. Unfortunately, even with the high tide, we are still stuck for the night. It will be strange sleeping on a bed at about a 30 degree tilt.
I have requested the volunteer rescue people to call in the morning. In the meantime the engine has overheated and I suspect the cooling water impeller has failed. We will check it in the morning when everything has cooled off.

This is a beautiful area of water, surrounded by mangroves. You do however have to leave all the houses and mansions behind to get to the natural area.

More tomorrow as we discover our fate!

I looked on Marine Traffic and thought it a strange place to be stopped. I hope all is well.
