Set off this morning with the tide high at 06.15 for the 67 mile trip to the Gold Coast and a snug berth for the night. Arrived in the marina at 4.00 pm and spent a few minutes looking for our allocated berth. Its right next to a large, and expensive, motor boat. In fact there are only 2 yachts on this marina, and BlueFlyer is one of them.
It was an uneventful trip north. Peter and I rigged up the spinnaker pole in the light winds just to try it really. It worked but the wind died anyway. Although we had lovely sunshine all day, the southerly wind was cold so it was jackets all day with the sunnies as well. Of course there were whales and dolphins around us. The sea was flat and no swell.
On entering the Broadwater we found bedlam. There were boats going everywhere at speeds from standstill (fishing) to flat out huge motor cruisers. Then we hit the sand as well. I backed off that and went a different route, successfully. This was the closest marina to the entrance which is why I chose it but it really is for large motor boats.
Tomorrow we will set off up the channels at around midday, its the tides again! and anchor somewhere for the night before finishing in Morton Bay the next day.
All is well on board, no scurvy or mutiny found.

Hi Hugh, I'm going to become an Irish (EU) citizen, do you know how I can get Dad's father's date of birth? J
