Newcastle, 22/6/2016

Now I have always thought that the nearer to the Equator you travel the warmer it gets. Not so with us! All day the sun shone down on us and the wind blew us northward, but the temperature failed to increase. My heavy weather jacket stayed firmly on.

We did have a cracking sail though, top speed of 10 knots and an average of 7. This meant we arrived 2 hours early, even the Marine Rescue people commented that it must have been a good sail.
As we arrived at the entrance to Newcastle the wind piped up and got colder. Docking the boat in 24 knots took 2 goes to make sure we didn't hit anything.

Tomorrow we will go to Port Stephens, a short 30 mile trip. We may stay there a couple of nights as there are strong winds and a very cold front predicted. Not a good combination at sea.

Amazingly there have been no problems so far on the voyage, long may that last. Memories of repairing things at every stop remain firmly in my mind, especially in the tropics.

Sounds like a great days sailing.
