Getting closer

OK, since the last post there has been progress. I started the compressor, it turns out there was oil in it all the time. Although the label says 95 decibels, or very loud, it is much quieter than that. It also pressurised to 330 bar, at which point I stopped it and depressurised the system. So all OK there. I have bought a secondhand boom brake on eBay and am waiting to install it while the boat is on the hard next month for a final clean and polish. All the electrics are done and working, the batteries tested out as being in good shape, and the generator is good. I replaced on of the water intake fittings as w found any weed happily jammed up the piping at a 90 degree bend. It cost an impeller to find out! I have started to buy and store some of the dry food and tinned foods as well. Next up is a trip to the chart shop for the charts to South Africa. I have refitted the jib with a new UV protection strip, there are new lifelines and new safety equipment on board, ie new horseshoe buoys with lights and drogues. All the EPIRB and PLB batteries have been checked for expiry dates, as well as tested. All in all we seem to be in good shape.
