Thursday 17th July
BlueFlyer had an epic day yesterday- sailing to Epi, an island 80+ miles north of Port Vila and on the way to Luganville. (Sorry about the wording). The crew said to the other 4 boats that travelled in company to Epi that they were leaving at 6AM, but actually left at 7.30 arriving in a small bay called Revolieau on the west coast at 16.30, avoiding reefs along the way. Lovely sailing conditions along the way, 20 knots and reasonably flat seas all the way, averaging 81/2 knots.
Last night when the engine was turned off the new batteries were at 13.5 knots and as the voltmeter was checked it zoomed down to 10.5 volts and held steadt at that- virtually flat again! Several people are going to look at the situation in the morning. The great news is that Darryn found the fault that was shutting down the generator with overheating. There was a short wire connecting 2 terminals that had worn through on another wire and as soon as this was replaced the set was OK and has been running all night now. Only fault now is that there is corrosion on one terminal in the multiblock plug and this is blocking the remote start panel. Not a major problem.
Today we are all heading further north to another island.

Way to go Val!! Abseiling sounds amazing. Another exciting story to add to your wonderful trip. In comparison, Melbourne is freezing ... so enjoy the humidity whilst you can. One and half weeks to go! Lve Tania & Gabrielle
