Val Becoming More Adventurous!

Wednesyday 16th July

Yesterday it rained virtually the whole day, and so we had a quiet time of it. The crews came over from a couple of boats and we had drinks and nibbles in the cockpit, followed by dinner ashore in the local waterfront restaurant/bar. Live music every night, except Sundays. Val got up and danced so Hugh felt he had to as well and stood shuffling around-no different from the usual!

Today was a much nicer day altogether with lovely warm sunshine all day. The day started with a bang. The BlueFlyer crew were up by 7 o'clock and met a minibus at 8. At the end of the bus trip all walked about 3 kilometres to a waterfall over rough and muddy ground, no slips by Hugh. All the others, 10 in total, went to the top of the falls and Hugh sat at the bottom photographing the falls and waited for the others to return with their guides. 90 minutes later they returnd, one at a time, abseiling down the falls. In case you dont understand, that is walking/jumping down the vertical face by a controlled rope descent. All of them included Val who now says to hell with gardening, I'm going abseiling in future. This also means that she will go up the mast in future!

Late in the afternoon about 20 people took 2 buses up to a private museum above the town. This displayed artifacts from the islands as far back as the pre-christianisation time. It was most interesting with all sorts of items on show. The whole show is in a purpose built building and was created by the local Catholic priest. It is not known what will happen to it when he dies.

BlueFlyer is just back from a meal in a French restaurant and are getting set to leave early in the morning to head north to an island named Epi for the night on anchor. All are wondering how the replacement batteries will work out.
