Hi everyone,
Its been fun here in Montego Bay. The yacht club is very open and friendly and have been welcoming.
We hired a car for 4 days and have been out exploring the island. First trip was around the north coast resort area, lovely beaches and enormous resorts, I wonder if the occupants get out at all. That trip took most of the day. We bought souvenirs, of course, and wandered around some of the area.
The next long trip was yesterday. We took the toll road SE to Kingston, about 3 1/2 hours. This is the only hole free road on the island, but does have landslides to make up for this lack. Kingston did not seem to have much going for it, so we decided to go into the Blue Mountains to a famous coffee shop and restaurant. Google maps sent us up a mountain road that eventually became impassable so we retraced back to Kingston and drove home again, an interesting but disappointing day.
Between these trips we went west to Negril, it appears to be a strip of resorts and not much else there. Heading south then we all went into Ricks Bar, very famous. I found the views spectacular, and the prices! Well worth a visit though. Back to the boat through the hills and tropical rain showers
Today I have filled the fuel tank, got a reasonable forecast and checked out of Jamaica, ready for tomorrow's departure and about 4 day trip to Colombia.
All is well on board.
