Cabedelo, 19/02/2017

Still warm and humid here, but there has been some rain, but not much.Thank goodness we ticked the air con box when Val and I specked the boat, and thank Ockie for the generator, it's like a Swiss watch again. The voltage on the dock has been as low as 160 and as high as 205. The air con trips out at the lower end voltages.

M and J are using buses to get around now as they have very little money left. I have told them that I will carry them to Panama, but I don't think any further as it then starts to get really expensive!

We heard a bang on the boat yesterday. It turned out to be a through bolt holding a stantion to the deck. A power boat wash caused my neighbour to roll into it. The parts are out for welding and are promised back tomorrow.

Several more of the fleet have now arrived, so there is a lot more English being spoken now. There is also some debate about bothering with the Carnival. It's expensive to use the organised minibus from here, but I think I'll go anyway. It's little enough in the long term and I'm not planning to return here any time soon.

I have just been researching the costs of the Canal transit and visiting the Galápagos Islands.  Wow, they've both got very expensive. Probably about $4000 in total, a shock to my system as it was all done by the WARC last time.

All is well on board.

Fantastic news that the generator is working so well! Melbourne hasn't had much of a summer. Got the heater on at night.

Hi Hugh,
Dawn and Gary mentioned that you were looking for crew from Panama. Contracts are signed to sell out of my business from 31st March, so I'm looking for the next adventure and keen to hear more. Drop me a line in private if you're interested.
