Richards Bay, 13/11/2016

As you can see from the title we have successfully crossed the Indian Ocean, more or less unscathed and in good condition, apart from the generator which seems to have used water instead of diesel and is sick as a result.
The crossing had flat calms and rough windy conditions, it even rained once briefly. We did an awful lot of motoring again, 158 hours on the engine, mostly charging the batteries. Towards the end we did motor sail so as to beat the bad south westerly winds to Richards Bay, successfully.
We are now ensconced in the Zululand Yacht Club marina and enjoying the cheap and excellent bar and restaurant here. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, even the Customs and Immigration were great, but we do have to check in with them wherever we stop in SA.
I notice that we have the biggest courtesy flag of the fleet on our mast! I only asked for a courtesy flag. No harm done I suppose.
It's a busy week here. Today was clearing in day and then shopping  day. Tomorrow will be organising repairs day and souvenir shopping, followed by a BBQ in the evening at the club.
Tuesday there is free, Wednesday there is an Ocean Cruising Club dinner and meeting in the evening, Thursday is a safari day, Friday is briefing and check out day and Saturday looks like moving on day towards Cape Town.
More to follow.
