The weather was great, the seas were flat and we got in about 12 hours ahead of plan. There was a lot of motoring and motor sailing, but nobody was complaining. No big seas, hardly any small ones!
We motored around Cape Agulhas, the southernmost point of Africa and turned towards the North for the first time since Lombok. Then a few hours later it was around a hazy Cape of Good Hope and more North to Cape Town in the dark. Aliena was with us a few miles away.
The lights from the city look like lava flow from Signal Hill as you go past, then the bay appeared from around a large lump of rock called Green Point.
To get to our dock 2 bridges had to be opened and permission obtained from the harbour control to enter the harbour. We got in and tied up with help from Aliena at around midnight and then retired to bed.
Since then we have been working on the boat, sightseeing and enjoying ourselves. Today we took the cable car up Table Mountain for the sunset, really really spectacular and worth the taxi fares and the fee.
I have rented a car for a week and we plan to go wine tasting in the Stellenbosch area, and visit some of the towns we missed out on the way here, should be good.
