Cairns, 14/8/2016

This one is an update really as we haven't gone anywhere.
Cheryl left us on Friday for home in Melbourne, but will be back in Darwin.
On Friday Peter and I removed the outlet fitting on the front fuel tank, which has been dripping diesel into the boat. We made up gasket and put on gasket goo too. We also put in a proper fitting so we reckoned that was that.
Yesterday we put in 20 litres of diesel, guess what, the drip is still there. Today Peter started to cut out the tank and we will fit a new one. Its made of plywood and glass fibre. He's been using the battery powered grinder I bought in case we ever need to cut away the rig. The battery lasts about 2 minutes. Don't buy a Ryobi hand tool they're Mickey Mouse to be polite.

The Ocean Cruising Club Port Officer here has been great, he's coming around again tomorrow in his car. We will go to Bunnings and see if they have a Sabre saw to finish the chopping.
I'll let you know how it all goes tomorrow.

Weather here is reasonable, around the mid 20s but cloudy, with a cooling breeze. Still wearing a jumper and long trousers in the evenings!

Next stop is Cooktown, where the then leftenant Cook beached the ship to repair the hole that a coral reef made in it.There is a memorial to the man of course.
