Still in Mackay, relaxing and doing the occasional maintenance job. All is well on board, but there is almost nothing to do in this area, you need transport to get to Mackay town. Buses run about 3 times a day and taxis are available too. The marina has cheap hire cars, 2 of them, that are constantly out on hire.
On Friday Bernie left for Sydney to see her son and grandchildren, and I went to Melbourne to see Fiona and the grandchildren. God it was cold!
We all went to the swimming class on Saturday in nearby Eltham pool. Kiera and Eila love it and are doing well.
Sunday we trotted off to a playground in Eltham and then walked to the neighbouring council run farm. Great time was had by all.
Monday I was on my own and got some personal things done.
Then Greg gave me a lift to the airport at 04.30 for my 06.00 flight to Brisbane. What a terrible time of day that is! Thank you Greg. I arrived back on BlueFlyer at about 11 am, a bit tired.
Whilst I was away Peter and Cheryl got one of the hire cars and went walkabout for the weekend. Apparently about 100 k inland there are some big hills with National Parks and thats where they went. Then turned around and came back towards Mackay, via Sarina. All the cane mills were closed due to the heavy rains recently, no viewings possible, so they were back a day early and did some food shopping.
Today I serviced the generator and started on the main engine, but needed a new bolt for the water pump. I know they are securely on the boat, but I could not find them. Tomorrow its into Mackay to get 6 of them, and then I'll finish the engine jobs.
Last night Shin joined us from Japan for the trip to Dublin He flew Tokio to Kuala Lumpur, Perth, Cairns, Brisbane and then Mackay. A roundabout, but cheap, route!
