Bermagui to Batemans Bay, 11/06/2016
Today was a good day, with some sailing in good breezes.
We left with the rising tide at 09.30 this morning, motoring for the first hour to clear the headland that was in our way, then we raised the sails. They remained up until the entrance at about 3.30. Max. speed seen was 10 knots and the average was 7.5, not too shabby.
We had to enter the bay at half tide, ebbing quite fast. There is the usual bar at the entrance, quite shallow. We just touched once but carried on, then just as we were tying up the wind gusted up causing some difficulty in getting the boat settled in.
Its now 10.00 and we have returned from the on marina restaurant, full of good food and wine. Tomorrow we will be there for breakfast as we cannot leave till 10am due to the tides.
We are off to Jervis Bay tomorrow, 45 miles approx. and our 3rd last stop before Sydney for crew changeover. Cool tomorrow with a high of only 16, but light winds.
Our fuel consumption has been far less than planned due to the SW and S winds. Other than the experimental transfer, we have not put any fuel in the main tank and still have 1/2 left on the gauge.
Juvenile humpbacks were spotted twice today, there is a short video on facebook from Sharyn Murdoch of one of them. This area is on their migration route north. Maybe some more tomorrow, who knows.

Enjoy breakfast, remember that however cool it is there, its still warmer than Melbourne! May the breeze continue to be over your stern.
