January 9th 2010 - Trip to Tasmania

We set off from Sandringham YC at 12.15 for a pleasant sail south to Queenscliff Marina. Just shows that nothing goes to plan! We had a rotten trip, engine on the whole way and head into wind, which whipped up short, sharp waves. The decks were rewashed all over again! Crash, bang, wallop all afternoon to keep us awake.

On arrival at the marina, nothing is open, no restaurant, no office, nothing. We tied up on a convenient hammerhead berth at 6.00, not the berth we were supposed to use, but we'll stay until moved.Val is whipping up a great meal for us at the moment and it will be demolished in short order.

Forecast look reasonable for tomorrow so its off early in the morning and south across the Bass Strait to Tasmania, Launceston to be accurate, so we hope the forecast is correct.
