Bad Weather Coming

Sunday 9th November

We arrived here on Great Keppel Island and parked in Long Bay on the south side of the island. A lovely sandy bay with what we think are 3 wedge tails, or some other bird of prey flying around.

We spent today at rest on the anchor and did several overdue jobs. We moved the extra anchor chain from the stern up forward, removed the rope anchor rode and joined this chain on so that we now have approx. 60 metres of anchor chain.

I also tried the watermaker, but still no joy with that, so then I tried the generator. It started on the 3rd try after at least a 2 month lay up. Lovely to see the voltmeter on the batteries rising without the main engine on. Before we left I decided to try the remote control panel, which had given up ages ago, and it worked!

After the work we pulled out the new dinghy and went ashore to look around. Lovely, lovely place, MaaMalni will re-visit I suspect on her way to Brisbane.Several beautiful shells were collected from the beach.

As there has just been a bad forecast for tomorrow- strong southerlies, we have decided to have dinner and then up anchor and leave for Gladstone overnight. Should arrive at the entrance around 7AM and then go up channel to the Marina there to shelter.
