Almost there...

Friday 29th February

Day 4 started off as day 3 left, motoring along at a steady 7.5 knots through the water, but only 5+ over the ground due to the current.

Lunch was prepared by Marcel today and presented at about 2 o'clock. I think this is the right word for the food we ate. Saurkraut in vinegar, 2 cheeses, cold meats, skewers of pickled onion, gerkin, and other delicacies, fresh baked herb bread, hot from the oven and a choice of drinks! Fantastic!

As we finished. we came upon a turtle. Around we went with the cameras clicking away. As soon as the turtle had had enough of the tourists, away under the water he went.

Around 3.15 I as lookout/watch pointed out that there was land in sight, the NE corner of San Christobal. Finally. We have been watching it getting bigger, although it looks as though it has been raining there all afternoon. That means about another 9 hours to go until we anchor in Puerto Ayora. We got an email from Fiona saying not to have breakfast as she & David want to bring goodies out to us and have brekkie on board. We are looking forward to that.

As we are so near the equator its very hot in the afternnons here and we are all a little hot and tired, not to mention Val & I both have some sort of throat bug, Val is worse than I am, can hardly speak.

Val spke to both Mary & Anthony today on the satellite phone and all seems to be well.

Despite all my worries, we will arrive with some diesl in the fuel tank, and a full tank for the generator, so we can run that to keep up the batteries and cool down the boat in the evening when we return on board.

Hi, hope you have enjoyed your breakfast by now. The week+ in the Galapagos will be a welcome rest for you. A large wild marine Turtle is something I am hoping to see. See you next Wed/Thu. Paul
