Dominica

Saturday 12th January 2008

We have managed to leave Martinique and are now moored in Roseau, the capital of Dominica. The island has a population of 74,000 and they would all fit into Croke Park with room to spare! This place has the highest mountain in the Carribean and the highest rainfall too. Tomorrow, we are taking a day trip with one of the tour guides. Don't know where we're going though, could be interesting.

It was a lovely sail over to here, clocking 9.6 on the log and arriving in plenty of time to clear through customs. Only 2 forms to fill out and as we are here for less than 14 days, it also included our check out as well! There is a new, young (34, I think), prime minister and he has a campaign to encourage yachts to visit. The 1st thing he did was overhaul the Customs & Immigration policies to ease all the paperwork. He succeeded!!
