Friday 6th December
At last the computer is free - communicating with the outside world is a priority for the crew!!
It is my (Val's) watch soon (1 am) and Hugh after that, so just a quick message before my watch. The weather for the past 24 hours has been horrible. We have been dodging lightning, strong winds and hugh lumpy seas in the hopes of getting to better weather - hopefully tommorrow. The tensions are running high on the boat at the moment, due I guess to the inclement weather.
We broke one of the headsail poles today and so we are now down to one. Also, we have had SSB radio problems and Hugh spent most of yesterday crawling in and out of lockers trying to fix yet another lousy installation. Fortunately, he sems to have had some success.
We have had so much time to think on this crossing, especially while on watch alone at night with the wind whistling past - not always a good thing! But, we are really looking forward to our "next" life and now that we have less than 1100 miles to go on this leg, and an ETA of Friday, we are starting to feel more positive.
