Cape Town, 07.01.2017

Of the fleet of 15 boats, 5 left this morning crossing the official start at 11 am.
The remaining boats either don't like the weather or are awaiting spares or repairs. There is also a gastro bug going around the fleet and, lucky me, I have it now. It's short lived.
I have just booked a diver to give the hull a clean before we depart, that will be an improvement.

Jamie and Michael have moved ALL their stuff aboard, I don't know where they will store it, but not my problem. It has been enjoyable meeting their families over the break here. I am certain some of them think the 2 are quite nuts, and they may well be right.

The weather here continues to be quite pleasant, temperature in the high 20s, no rain and around 70% humidity.

Other than food and water, as well as the injectors, we are ready to go. As we are late departing, we will cut short our time in Brazil, but will stay the full 3 days in St Helena. After 3 days the authorities start charging per boat and per person so a good incentive to move on. Apparently the WARC visit is important and well received by the islanders. Like all islanders the people have a very friendly reputation. My only concern is the landing and departing procedure, we'll see how it goes.

Michael Bell has gone off into town for lunch and a film and will be back later. Tomorrow we have Gerrie and Amanda over for cocktails and dinner. I must chill some wine for that.

All is well on board, just wish we were on our way.

Hope the repairs and preparations are well underway. When are you hoping to depart Cape Town?
