Easter bunny does make it to the Pacific!

Sunday 23rd March

On board here life goes on as usual, although the washing machine has been turned on a bit today, in other words its a little less calm than up to now. Its still very pleasant sailing and we are consistently clocking 7.3 to 7.5 SOG which will get us in on the 27th again, but late I think. The 1.5 to 2 knot current running with us has been amazing, long may it last. The wind is not more than about 18 to 20 knots, but it has been cloudy all day, and we has a tiny sprinkling of rain this afternoon. Its so long since that happened we had almost forgotted what it felt like, but it was only for 2 minutes. So no deck wash today.

As I am writing this at 1630 local time, 1030 Dublin time, we have 743 miles to go.

Shin and I put another 20 litres of fuel in the generator this morning, its not enough to fill its tank but I am keeping as much for the main engine as possible in case of having to motor sail home. The batteries are getting greedier for charging and so I am using the generator more each day. However if we use the engine, we don't need the generator. I have just turned it on as the voltage was down to less than 11 and at that the fridge & freezer don't work.

The Easter Bunny arrived this morning with cards and choccies for all on board, Val really is clever at remembering these little things that make such a difference.

We have run out of soy milk! Although we have plenty of dairy milk still. This is due to both Shin and Paul taking a liking to the Soy. It turns out the powdered one we bought has sugar and something else in it and so its not really too tasty. Black tea again, with or without lemon. Val has made a Shepherds Pie for tonight, its in the oven ready to cook. Isn't this amazing after 2 weeks out at sea?

Fresh bread this morning as well, so lunch was bread and cheese with mushroom soup. All very tasty indeed.

Last Sunday I moved the night watches forward by 1 hour to allow for our westward progress, and tonight they go forward another hour. The ships clock and our watches have not changed, it would all get too confusing, working out times in Melbourne and Dublin.
