Getting ready for Ecuador...

Sunday 10th February

Sunday morning and we are doing the final preparations to leave at 12. Destination Ecuador.
Rob & JR are making up muesli by the kilo from the looks of the bowl they're using!

I am waiting to look at the latest weather forecast from Bruce in Perth, and then we will decide on the headsails. Do we keep the twin yankee jibs for downwind, or put on the big genoa for lighter winds that are not fully behind us.We would then use the lightweight genneker for speed in lighter winds. We have full fuel tanks for the engine and generator and 240 litres in cans so we could motor the whole way to Salinas. Some boats are leaving early to visit Las Perlas islands out in Panama Bay for a day or two, and some are going directly to the Galapagos, so we are slightly down in numbers. We are expecting flat seas and calm, variable winds, especially in the Inter Tropical Convergance Zone. This area is known to most as the Doldrums, or Horse Latitudes.

Hopefully we will have an easy quiet trip with little to report en-route.
