Saturday 26th January
We have just changed course about 10 degrees to a new point off Venezuela suggested by the weather man. Our speed then went to 13.5 kts! Averaging around 8 at the moment. We are now about 360 miles from St.Lucia and going well. It's now dinner time - Val has cooked up pork chops, rice & veggies. The wind has dropped to about 12kts and backed to the NE which is putting us too far south, so in the morning we'll change the sail plan to overcome this. We had heavy rain in the night and it has cleared up again. All are well and happy.
I am net controller tomorrow. This means taking the roll call and positions of as much of the fleet as can hear me on the long wave SSB. That means that we can all work out where each other is and usually what the weather is as well. Also if anyone has info for the fleet it can be passed on then. Today for example, one of the boats saw an upturned rubber duck in the water, and passed on the position to everyone else.
