Starry, starry night

Thursday 13th December

It's now 0300 UT out in the starry Atlantic. I'm on until 0400, having relieved Val an hour ago. Wind is a steady 20/25 kts, occasionally 30 kts in gusts and the sea is slightly rough. We are doing 6.5 kts, heading due west to St.Lucia and are still due in on Friday. From the few position reports we have, we seem to be the most southerly boat. The 2 jibs are pulling us along nicely, they are rolled up to about 1/2 size, which protects the pole and can handle any of the gusts that come along, very convenient.

Dinner was the 2nd 1/2 of the Argentinian steak, with spinach and sweet potato, followed by a pear crumble. Val emptied the freezer and cleaned out both the fridge & freezer today, so the freezer has been switched off now.

We can almost pick up Radio St Lucia on the long range. It's there but not at all clear. Talking of radios, our skipper (John) did an interview with (Irish) East Coast Radio this morning on the satellite phone, so anyone listening in from Dublin to Gorey will now have heard of BlueFlyer!
