Spirits lifting despite continued stormy weather

Monday 10th December

Last night I was sitting at the chart table with the red night vision light on, watching the radar and a huge thunder cell approaching - it is interesting and a bit scary all at the same time. I feel a bit like a tiny, tiny speck on a screen and this huge yellow blob is tracking nearer you like a spider!!!!! After my watch, I had a good sleep and we are hoping for better weather soon.

The boat is very damp inside but will dry out with time. Morale is a bit higher this morning and as Nana used to say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, so to cheer up the crew, I made bacon butties this morning!!

Anyway, we are down to about 700 miles to go and by now we are having different thoughts about the next long trip (Pacific journey). We have not decided on details, but we will be doing things differently. Anyway, we are safe and we have a fantastic (if slightly battered) boat which will be cleaned up on arrival.

Today we plan mushroom risotto for lunch and green thai curry for dinner. Our fruit still survives amazingly well, so no scurvy on this ship! I will sign off now and do more washing up. There is great chat and debate as to whose turn it is - I just do it when the sink is getting full!! Val
