600 miles to go and things are looking up

Tuesday 11th December

It's 5am and I am just off duty - we have now only 600 miles left!!! ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!. The weather has picked up - at last - and it was great to see the beautiful sky again. The stars are amazing - so unpolluted. The air is very warm and humid, and the water temperature is 31 degrees! Spirits are rising and of course the thought of getting off for a while is great. Water restrictions have lifted, so we all had showers yesterday - bliss!!! We had a lovely thai green curry last night - we have really eaten well - we even have some fruit and veg left, which is is amazing after nearly 3 weeks.

We have some jobs to get done on our arrival, the chief of which is the battery charging system and getting the batteries checked out. We suspect their condition is not all it should be. Also, the downwind poles and mast fittings need to be replaced. We also have to service the generator and clean the watermaker. The long range radio also needs to be checked over for correct operation, we had problems transmitting for the 1st 1/2 of the trip. The boat needs a good clean and wash, and the laundry needs doing as well.
